Welcome to the 2024 edition of Glasto’s Essential Eats; everything you need to know about the best food at Glastonbury Festival!

Don’t you know Glasto isn’t all about the line up? Well, when it comes to the food on offer, it kind of is. Here’s your full run down of the food that will fuel you through five days of music, partying and cider on Worthy Farm – not a sub par burger in sight.

Not long to go now…see you on the farm!

Best Food at Glasto 2024

Anna Mae’s

It’s just not Glasto until you’re sat in the sun (we live in hope!) between sets at The Pyramid and someone creeps up with a massive pot of deliciously melty Anna Mae’s macaroni cheese, immediately shoving a spoon in your face and reminding you instantly how perfect this food is for soaking up those afternoon ciders.

Available both in classic and pimped up versions, Anna Mae’s are renowned for the huge skillets of steaming cheesy goodness they serve up, and as always, I can’t wait to see them back again this year – it simply isn’t Glasto without them.

Anna Mae’s have two spots at the festival; their usual between Pyramid and Bandstand, and this year their second is on the other side of Pyramid, by Woodsies and San Remo – perfectly situated to round off the night after dancing it away at San Remo!

Bayou Bar

A great find over by West Holts last year was Bayou Bar: New Orleans Kitchen, serving up banging cajun BBQ dishes to festival goers from their yellow trailer. Slinging cajun baskets with blackened shrimp and chicken as well as crispy cajun fries, this street food spot is building a great reputation on the farm!

The Bhangra Bus

The big yellow American school bus serving curries is a part of the Glastonbury furniture. Paneer curries, veggie thali, daal and lassis make up The Bhangra Bus’ vegetarian and vegan Indian offering. One of the most unique things about this old favourite is you can also perch inside the big yellow bus to eat your food – a welcome respite.

Billy Bob’s Buttermilk Fried Chicken

No festival is complete without a healthy dose of fried chicken. I first found Billy Bob’s a few years back, and they stuck out in my mind not only for their excellent boneless chicken but the curly fries that came with it – please bring these back!

Delighted to stumble on them again last year, there they were serving up fried chicken boxes with chicken gravy, spicy chicken and BBQ wraps, dirty loaded fries with cheese, bacon bits, fried chicken bits and hot honey. And that’s before you even get to their fried chicken burgers on brioche buns! I’ll be getting the Hot Honey Chicken: fried chicken fillet with ranch dressing, pickles and hot honey sauce.

Buddha Bowls

The menu is small but that just means they do what they do really, really well. Wholefood Heaven’s Buddha Bowls have been a crowd favourite for a long time: vegan massaman curry bowls (unless you opt to add halloumi, which I personally can never resist) with potatoes, carrots, pineapple, homemade pickle, seasonal greens and brown rice. Healthy, full of flavour and a great way to get some much needed nutrition into your festival diet.

Burger & Beyond

Consistently one of my favourites and without question one of the best foods at Glasto, Burger & Beyond are BACK for 2024! These burgers bang hard, and around day 4 when you need a bit more of a pick me up than usual, their cheesy bacon burger can do magical things. You know you’ve found a winner when there is silence between friends as they chow down, bar the sporadic mumblings of ‘oh my God, oh my God’.

Camper Coffee Co

To my detriment, I am a full on coffee snob and I rarely function without at least two black Americanos first thing. At Glasto I have been well known to opt for a breakfast cider as I emerge from my tent, but Camper Coffee Co’s ethically sourced and freshly roasted coffee have made sure that I can get a great caffeine hit on my way down to the stages.

The Cheese Truck

These guys will sort you out. The Cheese Truck takes the simple few ingredients to make the humble cheese toastie and add a bit of magic to create something to write home about. That magic is in the form of complementary ingredients to pimp up the type of cheese you’ve opted for – they usually have cheddar, brie, goat’s cheese and a blue, and all look and sound as good as the other. Perfect festival food.

Where? Between Pyramid and San Remo, near Oxfam tent. Second site is to the corner of The Other Stage on the way to Silver Hayes.

Club Mexicana

Brilliant news; Club Mexicana’s famous vegan tacos, nachos and burritos will be doing everyone a kindness and gracing Glastonbury goers with their presence once again this year. Having gone from strength to strength with their restaurants in London, you can be sure to hit the spot with one (or several) of their tacos between sets. BBQ short rib, cheezeburger, al pastor, fried chick’n and chorizo sweet potato…tacos, burritos, nachos – but they’re all vegan. Doing what they do like no one else.

Dosa Deli and Dippy Dogs

A Glastonbury classic by now, Dosa Deli are back again with their huge dosas and somehow even bigger onion bhajis. The Mysore Masala Dosa with spiced potatoes and hot garlic chutney is a hit, as is the paneer Chilli Cheese Dosa with red onion, tomato and channa dhal chutney. Once again their Silver Hayes spot will be dedicated to Dippy Dogs, serving up vegan corn dogs to the masses.

Where? Dosa Deli at Williams Green; Dippy Dogs at Silver Hayes
Confirmed

The Duck Truck

The Duck Truck went down a storm at last year’s festival, and it’s no surprise with their tasty duck and chip boxes, crispy duck wraps and, if you’re after something a bit lighter, duck salad. Festival food really has come on leaps and bounds, hasn’t it? Find these guys in two spots on each side of the festival: West Holts and The Park.

Eat The Farm

Oh man, I love Eat The Farm so much. They have dragged me through some dicey mornings with their incredible breakfast burgers of sausage patty, melted cheese, crispy streaky bacon, and a fried egg in a toasted brioche bun – all for only £6!! Later in the day their huge, beautifully messy, juicy burgers made with quality meat and perfectly melted cheese in brioche buns will sort you right out, and don’t miss their fries with their special ‘crack’ seasoning.

They’ll have a big old board out front and can proudly say they are once again without question, one of Glasto’s Essential Eats for 2024.

Fine Grind

Thank God there is more than one great place to get coffee on site these days! Fine Grind serve excellent barista made coffee on the East side of the festival, around Left Field. Fine Grind serve everything from flat whites, cortado (fancy!), mochas and a selection of iced coffees for when the sun is out alongside baked goods and sandwiches.

The Fritter Shack

Die hard Glasto goers will be sad to not see No Bones Jones at the festival this year but every one of those people should head to The Fritter Shack, run by the son of the geniuses behind No Bones Jones! Tasty fritters will be served alongside delicious salads and the menu will be full of gluten free options.

Given the name and family ties, we can be sure that The Fritter Shack will be serving up veggie fritters just as good as the famous NBJ ones, so this one will be well worth checking out.

The Gravy Train

A new one on my radar to seek out this year after my pal raved about The Gravy Train’s poutine being the best thing he ate all festival, and I quote “the cheese curds brought a tear to my eye”.

For those not familiar with poutine, it’s a filthy French Canadian invention of fries topped with melted cheese curds and gravy, and then The Gravy Train go one step further by pimping it up with the likes of BBQ chicken, mushrooms, mapled bacon, sour cream and paprika. Yeah, I’m salivating too.

Where? TBC, near the Glade in 2023.
Confirmed

Greek Expectations

Kebabs but make them quality. Greek Expectations’ chicken is cooked in a special blend of herbs and spices, served with Mediterranean flat breads, and their halloumi is traditionally made in Cyprus, so you know you’re getting the real deal here. As well as kebabs they do falafel, salad boxes and stuffed vine leaves. There’s always a decent queue too, which is a very good sign!

The Goan Seafood Company

Fresh fish from the Cornish coast cooked in authentic Goan recipes make The Goan Seafood Company a continual favourite at Glastonbury. Their Goan Mackerel Masala Dahl curry is a festival staple, and their hot smoked salmon kedgeree serves as a welcome alternative to the usual bacon and sausage baps you often get for breakfast.

Where? West Holts

Hanoi Kitchen

Banging banh mi, noodle salad and crispy veggie spring rolls will be on offer from Vietnamese street food traders Hanoi Kitchen again this year, and I can’t wait to see them back at Worthy Farm. Their veggie spring rolls will be part of Glasto’s ‘eat for £6’ dishes, which are always great to seek out to keep costs down.

Happy Maki

With a solid commitment to sustainability and quality, I’m thrilled the guys from Happy Maki will be back on the farm this year, serving vegan sushi full of flavour to festival goers looking for something a little different and varied from your usual festival fare. Hoisin duck and chicken alternatives sit alongside Thai sweet potato and avocado veggie sushi burrito rolls on their festival menu.

Hippy Happy Hoppers

Hippy Happy Hoppers are back once again, serving Sri Lankan street food to the masses from their usual beautiful brightly coloured spot by Other. The menu boasts the hopper itself with halloumi, spinach and chorizo, dahl and rice, stuffed roti or buttery paneer masala curry, all served with salad and sambals. You’ll be spoilt for choice, so you may have to go twice.

The Jerk Yard

A bowl of jerk chicken with fresh slaw, rice and beans in the sunshine in a field is absolute summer perfection. The team from The Jerk Yard are back on the farm to help us reach these dizzy heights, serving their famous jerk chicken, BBQ rum chicken, goat curry and jackfruit curry. Some of these dishes WILL sell out, so don’t leave it til Sunday afternoon to avoid disappointment!

Kolkati

Easily my favourite find of the festival in 2023, Kolkati serve incredible paratha wraps filled with beautifully flavoured masala chicken, coconut raita, tamarind sauce and pickled onions. I’m not exaggerating when I say I was thinking about Kolkati for days afterwards. They do a paneer version which I’m assured by my best mate banged just as hard. I’m so thrilled the guys behind Kolkati will be back this year. A must try – run, don’t walk.

Korean Tacos and Bowls

Good spot to the left of Pyramid towards the bandstand, near Kolkati and Anna Mae’s, all this place is named is ‘Korean Tacos and Bowls’, and it does what it says on the tin! I love a rice bowl, and the addition of a bit of sticky Korean fried chicken, slaw and spring onion is a winner in my books. There’s a fried cauliflower option for both the rice bowls and tacos for the veggies, and a portion of their Crispy Korean Cauliflower Bites are a part of the festival’s Eat For £6 deal.

Where? TBC, to the left of Pyramid near the Bandstand in 2023

La Rotisserie

Did you know you don’t even have to miss your Sunday roast at Glastonbury? Okay, a bit of a stretch maybe, but La Rotisserie serve up delicious spit roast rotisserie chicken in boxes and pitta with sage and onion stuffing, coleslaw, salad and a dressing of your choice, which is a pretty solid alternative.

Mexican Seoul

After a crazy year opening their incredibly popular restaurant in East London, Mexican Seoul are being generous with their time and returning to the farm this year with some of the best food on offer at Glasto.

Serving award winning Mexican Korean food, they’ve been one of the best food finds at the past two festivals. Get their double fried chicken wings coated in gochujang hot sauce, topped with sesame seeds and spring onions – absolutely BANGING. Cult levels of good, at this point.

Moony’s Halloumi

Moony’s Halloumi was my mate’s favourite spot at the festival last year, so he went at least twice. They’ve got a big menu: halloumi fries with a selection of sauces, combo boxes with halloumi and regular fries, wraps, burgers and my mate’s go to: the dutty butties. The Dutty Butty features a deep fried wedge of halloumi, chips and two sauces all in a toasted brioche bun. Definitely big enough to be your main meal of the day!

Paellaria

The colourful stalls of Paellaria will entice you in with the smell of Spain. Their giant pans of simmering paella are all gluten free, with meat and vegan versions available. A refreshing change from your usual burgers and other fried food – a welcome alternative when you’re five days deep into the festival world!

Where? Between Pyramid and West Holts, and between Other and Silver Hayes. Fully vegan spot by Greenpeace.

Peckish Peacock

Another firm favourite on the farm, Peckish Peacock are back for 2024 serving up excellent vegan chickpea and spinach curries, stuffed roti wraps and their amazing pakoras, served with a selection of chutneys. They’ll also be serving up mango lassis; perfect for a hot summer’s day!

Where? To the right of Pyramid

Samosa

Sorry I literally do not know the name of this place other than the sign that says Samosa and the fact they do 4 banging samosa for £6, to the left of the Other Stage, and are there every year. I truly love this place; they serve the absolute perfect between-sets snack when you’re not ready for a whole meal. They often run out of certain flavour of samosa by Sunday, which says a lot.

Tibetan Kitchen

Tibetan Kitchen has become somewhat of a Glasto institution, helped by their proximity to the Pyramid stage and affirmed by their delicious momos, or Tibetan dumplings for those not in the know. Alongside the momos, there will be a couple of vegan curries on the menu, and last year we were treated to a Himalayan beef stew and chicken stir fry to round things off.

Toastie

These days I truly believe that a well executed toastie is among the best foods you can eat at Glasto, or indeed any festival. Perfect for breakfast, a fantastic option for when you can’t manage something huge because your stomach has been taken over by cider, and equally excellent to soak it all up at the end of the day.

Last year I had a near religious experience eating one of Toastie’s breakfast numbers with plenty of cheese and bacon on excellent sourdough. The small breakfast menu and slick operation meant the queue moved quickly, which is always comforting to beat the morning hanger. Their daytime menu had a chorizo and jalapeno number on it I’d love to try, so fingers crossed it’s back on the menu this year. Highly recommend!

VFC by Club Mexicana

Vegan Fried Chicken by Club Mexicana will be back on the farm this year, serving up beautifully crispy can’t-believe-it’s-not-chicken. Fried chick’n burgers complete with vegan bacon and cheeze, plus boxes filled with chick’n and the holy grail of the potato – the curly fry? Yes please!

  1. I worked a Glasto as a volunteer for the last few years now (excluding 2020), some of the ones on this list are great mentions.
Beyond Burger, Eat the Farm, and Camper Coffee were some of my favourites.

Anna Maes is good but last year I had tried the Mac n Cheese down by Silver Hayes, by the Chicken place (can’t remember the name of either), felt it was a better buy, similar price but a bigger portion and seriously tasty Mac n Cheese. Would recommend giving them a go if you’re down there.

Also my friend who’s veggie got a really good halloumi burger from a place near to the other stage, Organic Fresh I think they were called. She raved about it all day!

    1. Very glad you agree with it! I’ve heard Mac Shack is good – was it maybe that one?! Will have to track it down.

I also heard some good things about a halloumi burger near other but wasn’t sure of the name – cheers!
