Beautiful Levanzo! At roughly just five kilometres squared, Levanzo is the smallest of the Egadi islands off of Western Sicily.
Whilst most people tend to travel over towards pretty Taormina and down to Syracuse and Noto on their Sicily trips, the West tends to get overlooked. The area is more popular with Italians holidaying, and they are sitting on a well kept secret of some of the most beautiful spots in the country.

ABOUT LEVANZO
Levanzo is the smallest of the inhabited Egadi islands, off of Trapani in the West of Sicily. The Egadi islands are the perfect example of quiet, slow and rustic Sicilian life. Between the islands, the population sits at less than 5000 people, and the main occupation is fishing.
Whilst you can stay on this sleepy island, there are limited food and accommodation options, so most people will choose to visit on a day trip from Trapani, or for a few hours before heading to Levanzo’s big sister, Favignana.
There isn’t much to do on Levanzo, but the crystal clear waters have to be seen to be believed, and it’s a wonderful spot for a lazy lunch and a few spritzes.

WHERE TO EAT AND DRINK IN LEVANZO
There are just three restaurants on Levanzo! I did say it was small.
Panetteria La Chicca
This little bakery could not have been more a bit of me: aperol for a few euros a piece which everyone drank on the wall outside whilst the local kittens rubbed against tanned legs.
My favourite panelle were on offer at aperitivo hour, as well as arancini, and charcuterie boards. It’s simple and it’s perfect.
Ristorante Bar Romano
Perfectly situated over the most crystal clear blue water, Romano is the ideal spot for a cold spritz.
Seafood, pizza and pastas are served both at lunch and dinner, but bear in mind that the restaurant will close in the afternoon between services. The bar stays open though, so it’s the perfect spot to wait for your ferry back to Trapani!
Risto Bar Arcobaleno
Popular, friendly restaurant serving fresh seafood and pasta. Risto Bar Arcobeleno boasts beautiful views of the bay at Levanzo, not far from where the ferries come in. Book to avoid disappointment.

WHERE TO STAY ON LEVANZO
Given Levanzo is pretty tiny, it’s more likely that you would visit on a day trip. But if the idea of spending a quiet night on the island appeals, you cannot go wrong with the beautiful Dolcevita Egadi Eco Resort.
Levanzo has more of a guest house and Air BnB vibe than anything else, but Dolcevita Egadi Eco Resort feels like a true slice of heaven. Quite frankly, I am desperate to stay there and absolutely plan to one day!
Dolcevita Egadi has a focus on wellness, so it’s no surprise to find spa treatments on offer, as well as an outdoor gym, yoga and meditation sessions. The hotel has ten rooms, many with their own terraces and one with a jacuzzi. There is a gorgeous swimming pool for when the heat gets too much and a sun terrace dotted with sofas, armchairs and rope parasols. Book here.
NOTE: Whilst breakfast is included, there is no restaurant for lunch and dinner, but each room comes with a fully equipped kitchen.

GETTING TO LEVANZO
The nearest airport to Levanzo is Trapani, though only Ryanair flies there from the UK in peak summer months. You may want to fly into the capital of Sicily, Palermo, instead and hire a car for the duration of your time in Sicily.
Trapani is 1.5 hours drive from the Sicilian capital, but don’t let that put you off; the North West of Sicily may be trickier to explore but that means it’s less touched by tourists – at least those who aren’t Italian.
To get to Levanzo itself, you’ll need to take one of the regular ferries from Trapani. You should book these in advance, as they get full especially in peak season. This is super easy to do online at Direct Ferries.
