HOW TO TAKE A CAREER BREAK iN YOUR 30S

Thinking about taking a career break? I just got back from a year long career break in my late 30s and I cannot recommend it enough!

Solo backpacking across Latin America and South Asia is certainly not the way I envisioned my late 30s would be when I was younger. But having returned feeling refreshed from corporate burnout and enriched by all the amazing places I experienced during my career break, I have zero regrets when it comes to carving my own path away from the societal status quo.

And I think you should do it too!

If you’re thinking about taking a career break in your 30s, this growing hub of resources to help you plan for and inspire your trip is an excellent place to start.

Why Take A Career Break In Your 30s?

A career break is becoming an increasingly popular choice amongst people in their 30s for good reason. Corporate burnout and rising costs of living is leading people to reassess their priorities and consider a last hurrah before settling down and more responsibility kicks in.

A couple of years ago I was handed a bit of a plot twist: the unexpected opportunity to take voluntary redundancy. Long story short, I stuck my hand up and after saving hard for the rest of the year, I packed up my flat and started a year long career break backpacking around South Asia and Latin America.
